Leyland OPD2 Dions 6057

6057 is a 1948 Leyland OPD2 with a Commonwealth Engineering body built at Granville in Sydney. The bus was new to Dions and is similar to Sydney Double deckers built however it was never a government bus.

21 double deckers were built for private bus companies between 1947 and 1950 and 6057 is the only known survivor. This bus was immaculately restored over a long period by a museum member Brian Mantle.

6057 was built for the Wollongong to Austinmer Route 1 service and ran until it was retired in 1964. Upon retirement it was parked in a shed until it was acquired for preservation in 1982.

This bus was acquired in May 2024 through the generosity of numerous donors including members of the Dion family.
