Mercedes-Benz O405 PMC160 3383

From 1990 Mercedes-Benz O405 / PMC '160' bus numbers 3381-3398 were delivered to the Urban Transit Authority. These were intended to be the first of a new standard for Sydney's government route buses, however these plans changed as the first batch were being delivered in 1990. Only the first six were delivered as dual door, the balance delivered only the front entrance and high back fixed coach-style seating for use in red livery on the Sydney Explorer, or, as in the case of 3383, the Airport Express for which they were painted in yellow and green.

3383 operated as an Airport Express bus until the opening of the Airport railway line in 2001, before entering normal service from Randwick depot. It also served from Kingsgrove and Brookvale depots before being withdrawn in early April 2016. It's last service was on 8 April 2016, when it operated a Route 246 from Cremorne to Wynyard.

This bus was donated to the Museum from State Transit in May 2016 and remains in an as-withdrawn condition, with some minor cosmetic and paint touch ups completed.
