Scania L113CRL 3511

In 1994, the State Transit Authority (STA) of NSW took delivery of a revolutionary new vehicle. It was given the fleet number 3511.

3511 is a Scania L113CRL with an Ansair Orana body, and was the very first 'low floor' bus to enter service in Sydney. The 'low floor' specification denoting that it had stepless entry and access to the main saloon of the bus permitting for greater ease of access for disabled passengers.

It toured all Sydney and Newcastle Buses depots, later being allocated to the Route 300 and 350 Airport Express services. For this it wore the distinctive green and yellow Airport Express livery.

Following the end of its Airport Express stint, 3511 received an overhaul and was placed into regular route service from Randwick Depot, where it remained until withdrawal in late 2019.

3511 has been acquired for the Sydney Bus Museum collection because of its immense historical significance in the development of Sydney and Newcastle's metropolitan buses. The bus is retained in an as-withdrawn condition.
