Sutherland Shire Heritage Festival

Saturday, 20th of April - Sunday, 21st of April, 2024

The Sydney Bus Museum is once again providing a vintage Sydney bus to connect a number of historic sites open to the public within the Sutherland Shire area as part of the Shire Heritage Festival. One of our vintage double decker buses will also be providing rides from the Sydney Tramway Museum the following day.  

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

Our 1978 Mercedes-Benz O305 Mk I 1923 will be providing an hourly shuttle service to a number of historic sites participating in this year's festival. The bus will operate every hour from 10.00am until 3.00pm, with the final trip departing at 3.00pm.

SERVICE TIMES

Sydney Tramway Museum, departs on the hour.

Woronora Memorial Park, departs 5 minutes past the hour.

Brinsley's Joinery, departs 10 minutes past the hour.

Sutherland Shire Museum, departs 30 minutes past the hour.

Hazelhurst Gallery, departs 40 minutes past the hour. 

Brick Pitt, South Village, departs 45 minutes past the hour.

FARES

The service is provided free, though donations are gratefully accepted to keep our historic vehicles on the road for the public to enjoy.

HOW TO RIDE 

Flag the bus at any one of the abovementioned stops, and enjoy your ride. Passengers can use the bus to go from historic site to site, or simply take a round trip for the experience. Remember to pull the bell cord to signal that you want the next stop!

SUNDAY, APRIL 21

In addition to the tram rides on offer by the Sydney Tramway Museum, one of our vintage green and cream double deckers will be operating along the 'Tramway Replacement Route' from the Tram Museum to Sutherland and the Royal National Park.

THE BUS STOPS

Sutherland: Eton Street, outside the Performing Arts Centre.

Loftus: Old Princes Highway, outside the Sydney Tramway Museum.

National Park: Royal National Park Tram Terminus.

TICKETS

See the conductor for your tickets on the bus, fares are a gold-coin donation by each passenger.

SERVICE TIMES

The vintage bus will run every hour, departing the Tram Museum on the hour. Service will operate from 10.00am until 3.00pm, with the final trip departing at 3.00pm.

HOW TO GET TO THE TRAM MUSEUM

The Sydney Tramway Museum is located at 2 Pitt Street, Loftus.

BY CAR

The Tram Museum is approximately a 45 minute drive from Sydney, and parking is available along the Old Prince's Highway at Waratah Oval. 

 

Please note that there is no parking available on the STM site on this day.  

​

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The Tram Museum is a two minute walk from Loftus Station, with trains from the City arriving approximately every 30 minutes.

BY VINTAGE BUS

Our vintage double decker will be stopping outside the Sutherland Performing Arts Centre on Eton Street, at 10 minutes past the hour from 10.10am until 3.10pm.

Our stop is a five minute walk from Sutherland Station, with trains arriving at Sutherland from the city approximately every 10 minutes.

Please note that SBM exhibits will not carry passengers from the SBM to the STM, and passengers can only ride the exhibit once they have arrived at the STM.
