Welcome to the Sydney Bus Museum!

Established in 1986, the Sydney Bus Museum is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation based at the historic Old Tramshed in Leichhardt. With more than 300 members, we preserve and operate one of Australia's most significant collections of historic buses, spanning over a century of transport history. For nearly 40 years, our dedicated volunteers have ensured these vehicles remain active and available for community, educational and charitable events, helping to keep Sydney's transport heritage alive for future generations.

We're open from 10am on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. Our next openings:  6 and 20 September, 18 October, 1 and 15 November 2026.

Join us for a vintage bus ride from Town Hall to the Museum in Leichhardt.

Busfest will be held from 10am to 3pm at White Bay Cruise Terminal.

Shuttle buses will operate every 20 minutes from 9am to 4pm between White Bay, The Bus Museum and the City.

The Sydney Bus Museum is seeking a dedicated and organized Finance and Administration Officer to join our team of volunteers.

This is a vital role in ensuring the smooth operational and financial health of the museum, helping us continue to preserve and celebrate our transport heritage. Click the button below to find out more and apply!

One significant gap in our collection is a Leyland Royal Tiger Cub. We need to raise $20,000 to purchase this bus.

We are close to hitting our target, can you help us get the rest od the way there?
