White Bay Power Station Biennale

From March to June 2024 the Sydney Bus Museum was engaged by Transport for NSW to operate a 14 weeks of Vintage bus services between the City and Biennale at White Bay Power Station. Every weekend and Public Holiday buses operated upto 10 hours per day every half an hour or more, shuttling patrons between the Biennale Exhibition Queen Victoria Building.

We operated the route 443 Vintage Bus Service alongside Transit Systems who provided easy access for the many patrons. For many of our vehicles, it was their first time back in revenue service since their withdrawal, some more than 50 years ago!

In the interest of number crunching, here are some statistics of our achievement. Over the past 14 weeks we…

- Had a total of over 20,100 passenger journeys made across 14 different vehicles.

- Worked a total of 727 hours and 55 minutes of rostered time operating the 443 service.

- Covered 108 individual shifts relating to the operation of the 443.

We also provided a display bus on busier weekends outside the Power Station.

Thank you to all the patrons and organisers aswell as our volunteers for achieving this massive feat.
